Computer Engineer III
Trimitron Corp is seeking a technically strong Computer Engineer III to support the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific’s Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Division. This role provides engineering expertise in computer system design, software development, and network technologies that directly support mission-critical PNT systems used across the U.S. Navy.

Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and optimization of computer systems, software applications, and network architectures supporting PNT mission capabilities
Apply advanced engineering principles to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues
Develop system specifications, architecture documentation, interface definitions, and engineering artifacts
Support system integration, testing, verification, and validation activities for PNT-related technologies
Contribute to modernization efforts, including system upgrades, refactoring, cloud transitions, and technology refresh initiatives
Lead software development tasks, including coding, debugging, testing, and documentation for high-complexity systems
Evaluate system performance, identify deficiencies, and recommend technical improvements
Provide senior-level engineering support for computer networks, including configuration, optimization, and cybersecurity considerations
Collaborate with PNT engineers, analysts, and program managers to ensure technical solutions align with mission requirements and operational constraints
Support PNT system development, operational assessments, and technical reviews as a senior engineering authority
Ensure all engineering activities comply with Navy, NIWC, and DoD cybersecurity, configuration management, and technical standards
Contribute to the development of PNT-related tools, models, prototypes, and system enhancements
Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, etc.)
Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and subject matter expertise to junior and mid-level engineers
Support engineering process improvement and best-practice adoption across the team
Qualification
Required
Active Secret security clearance
Master's degree with five (5) years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with nine (9) years of experience in:
Computer system design
Software development
Computer networks
Degree must be in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with a concentration in computer science
Demonstrated ability to lead complex engineering tasks and support mission-critical systems
Maintain and apply one or more relevant professional certifications, such as:
Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM)
Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP)
Microsoft MCAD or MCDBA
Red Hat RHCP
CISCO CCNP or CCDP
Oracle OCP
VMware VCP
Preferred
Experience supporting U.S. Navy programs, NIWC, NAVWAR, NAVSEA, or other DoD technical organizations
Familiarity with PNT systems, navigation technologies, or maritime system integration
Experience with cloud architectures, virtualization, or secure software development practices
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Contribute to the development of PNT-related tools, models, and system enhancements
