ED Charge Capture Coder
Medasource is seeking an ED Charge Capture Coder who is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and appropriately charging services within the Emergency Department. The role involves performing accurate outpatient coding and ensuring compliance with coding regulations and guidelines.
Responsibilities
Adhere to productivity expectations, including maintaining an average of 20-25 encounters per hour, subject to change based on chart complexity and evolving Client benchmarks
Perform accurate and timely outpatient coding for emergency department encounters, facility charge capture, and related procedures, in accordance with Client-defined workflows and tools
Apply demonstrated coding expertise and working knowledge of industry-standard tools and platforms (Epic and 3M) in alignment with Client documentation and billing requirements
Accurately assign, code, and abstract procedures within Emergency Department Charge Capture
Must understand and adhere to ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT coding regulations. Code and abstract information related to general surgery procedures
Thoroughly review patient documentation to ensure accurate and complete coding, identifying any discrepancies or missing information
Maintain a strong understanding of Medicare coding guidelines and regulations related to ED / Charge Capture
Collaborate effectively with other members of the coding team and clinical staff to clarify documentation and ensure coding accuracy
Stay up-to-date on coding changes and updates
Demonstrate professionalism and engagement, including responsiveness to client communication, timely task execution, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
Qualification
Required
3+ years of ED Charge Capture Coding
Certified Coder through AAPC or AHIMA
2+ years utilizing Epic EMR
2+ years utilizing 3M coding software
3+ years of healthcare terminology / experience
2+ years working within a Revenue Cycle team within the Emergency Department
Able and willing to work MST hours
Must have a HIPAA compliant workspace
Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding, and healthcare reimbursement systems
Proficiency with EPIC (EHR)
Proficiency with 3M (Coding software)
Adhere to ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT guidelines
Maintain a strong attention to detail, critical thinker
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be able to work independently or as part of a team
Eager to hit the ground running
