They are seeking Chancellor’s Fellows from the graduating class of 2026 to engage in a one-year appointment, focusing on higher education administration and public service through various projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities
Fellows complete a year-long project and then a range of projects during summer, fall, and spring on pan-university initiatives
Past projects have included supporting the Tar Heel Bus Tour, implementing the School of Data Science and Society, writing digital communications for Campus Health, establishing a mentorship program for Carolina students and alumni, conducting quantitative and qualitative research for the Graduate Student Experience, and making policy recommendations for senior leadership
The Chancellor’s Fellows work collaboratively supporting various functions and special projects in the Office of the Chancellor and Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost
Candidates must exhibit skills in project management, critical thinking, research, and business communications
While Fellows will be assigned specific projects, selected candidates should be flexible to take on additional projects as they may arise
Selected candidates will be expected to handle confidential, sensitive information; exercise excellent professional judgement and discretion; and interact appropriately with Carolina constituencies including senior officers, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members
Candidates are expected to be available to work on-site, regularly driving or otherwise transporting and staffing the Chancellor at various events around campus, and working with others on the Chancellor’s Office staff to coordinate and execute events, including set-up, break-down, and day-of needs
The fellows regularly staff and transport the chancellor to a range of events, including on nights and weekends
Qualification
Required
Graduate with a bachelor's degree or higher from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the most recent graduating class (Dec. 2025 or May 2026)
Exhibit exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a professional setting (including willingness to work occasional nights and weekends)
Strong ability to plan and prioritize work
Ability to work independently and as a productive team member
Committed to serving the diverse needs of our Carolina community
Experience in Microsoft Office, and visual representation of data (charts, infographics etc.)
Strong writing, research, analytical, and project management skills
Passion for higher education and public service
Ability to assist with the execution of events, including being physically present at functions coordinated by the Chancellor's and Provost's Offices
Current driver's license
Preferred
Applicants should be motivated and detail-oriented, with demonstrated academic excellence and a history of engagement at Carolina in areas such as service and student leadership
