Senior EDI Engineer
Ingram Content Group (ICG) is hiring a Senior EDI Engineer. The Senior EDI Engineer will design, operate, and continuously improve the enterprise integration platform, ensuring resilient and scalable integrations with external trading partners.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain complex Sterling business using BPML to orchestrate multi-step B2B workflows
Build robust process logic including retries, exception handling, acknowledgements (997/999), routing, transformations, and conditional flows
Translate business and operational requirements into scalable, fault-tolerant technical solutions across multiple backend systems
Act as senior escalation point for complex, multi-system production issues including EDI maps, business processes, network connectivity, security, and backend applications
Perform deep root-cause analysis using logs, metrics, and custom diagnostics
Design permanent fixes rather than short-term workarounds, improving platform stability and observability
Design, develop, and optimize complex EDI and non-EDI transformations
Refactor and modernize legacy maps, enforce mapping standards, and build reusable components
Support and migrate existing transactions from legacy EDI platforms to modern B2B architectures
Lead full lifecycle management of trading partners, including technical onboarding, connectivity, certificates, testing, certification, and production cutover
Maintain partner configurations, schedules, SLAs, and security artifacts
Drive partner migrations, and consolidation initiatives
Proactively monitor transaction flows, system health, and KPIs
Tune business processes, adapters, and system configurations to support high-volume, low-latency transaction processing
Improve alerting, monitoring, and operational automation to reduce incidents and mean time to resolution (MTTR)
Serve as the primary technical interface for external trading partners, VANs, and internal application teams
Mentor other team members and provide technical guidance and code/process reviews
Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation, providing expert-level support and operational leadership
Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and simplification across B2B workflows
Contribute to the B2B integration roadmap, including API-first integrations, PEM adoption, and modernization of legacy EDI patterns
Evaluate new integration approaches and tools to improve scalability, resilience, and partner experience
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
7+ years of deep, hands-on experience with EDI and B2B integration engineering
Extensive experience with IBM Sterling B2B Integrator (v6.x+) in enterprise, high-volume environments
Strong experience designing business processes, not just maps, within Sterling SI
Proven expertise with Sterling adapters (AS2, FTP/S, SFTP, HTTP/S, MQ, JDBC/ODBC)
Preferred
API & Integration Experience: Hands-on experience designing, consuming, and supporting RESTful APIs and API-based B2B integrations, including JSON, authentication mechanisms, and error handling patterns. Familiarity with API-first integration approaches and hybrid EDI/API architectures
Programming Languages: Strong development experience with Java (Sterling extensions, services, custom logic) and/or Python for integration tooling, automation, data transformation, monitoring, or operational support
Scripting & Automation: Experience using scripting languages (UNIX shell, PowerShell, Python) to automate operational tasks, monitoring, alerting, and partner onboarding workflows
Containerization & Modern Platforms: Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes or similar), including deploying, supporting, or integrating container-based services within enterprise integration ecosystems. Understanding of how containerization impacts scalability, resiliency, and CI/CD pipelines
Cloud & Modern Architecture (Plus): Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, or GCP), cloud-native integration patterns, and hybrid on-prem/cloud B2B architectures
