Project Engineer
Carlson Engineering is a company that specializes in designing and implementing capital engineering projects for the food, beverage, and dairy industries. As a Project Engineer, you will manage projects related to designing, building, and automating processing systems, ensuring high customer satisfaction and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Read and analyze moderately complex technical procedures, process flow schematics, P&IDs, electrical, instrumentation, and pneumatic drawings
Read, understand, and work within regulatory standards (FDA, PMO, USDA, OSHA, ect.)
Develop an understanding of the customer’s processes, control methods, and the requirements for successful project completion
Meet with customers to understand their needs and schedule requirements for new projects
Work with a wide range of equipment suppliers to understand the specifications and design capabilities to meet the customers’ requirements
Work with sub-contractors to schedule and execute required work
Manage timelines of equipment deliveries
Manage the project budget and timelines
Communicate thoughts, ideas, and other written information, which may be technical in nature, in a logical, coherent, and persuasive manner
Be a critical team player during the start-up and commissioning of new process equipment within a plant floor environment. Candidate must excel in high pressure environments with strict performance deadlines
Work independently with little supervision, but with high personal and team accountability
Qualification
Required
BS in Engineering, Project Management, or other STEM based degree or 10 plus years of experience
Food and Beverage Manufacturing design or operational experience
Prior experience as a Project manager
Leading a professional team
Willing to travel an average of 50% of the time, with brief periods exceeding 80%
Speak, read and write fluent English
Be a United States citizen or have documented proof of eligibility to work in the United States and have a current driver's license
