Responsibilities
Develop and run a successful NIH-funded laboratory focused on the study of chronic pain, overlapping pain conditions and/or fields related to anesthesiology
Collaborate with and mentor other learners and researchers within the UNC Department of Anesthesiology and/or the greater UNC-CH research environment
Serve on the departmental research committee
Occasionally teach research workshops and courses
Qualification
Required
Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree in a relevant field (e.g., physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience, pain research)
Demonstrated track record of high-quality research in pain, anesthesiology or related fields
Strong publication record in high impact peer-reviewed journals
Ability to secure external funding (e.g., NIH grants)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
Prefer an individual who can conduct both independent and collaborative research
Experience with mentoring graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty
