Responsibilities

Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger management
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Manage complex accounting for loan funds and restricted grants
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process with external auditors and oversee the preparation of Form 990
Ensure compliance with GAAP, CDFI Fund requirements, and federal grant regulations (Uniform Guidance)
Prepare financial reports for the Board of Directors, investors, and regulatory agencies
Monitor and manage liquidity and cash flow forecasting to support lending activities
Maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity
Partner with the VP of Finance to develop and monitor the annual operating budget
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and implement scalable financial software solutions
Support the lending team by providing data on loan portfolio performance and loss reserves

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a management role
Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with mid-market accounting software (e.g., QBO, Sage Intacct, NetSuite)
Commitment to AltCap's mission of promoting economic opportunities for underserved communities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Professional appearance and demeanor
Curious and committed to continuous development
Self-starting team player

Preferred

Experience in non-profit accounting (fund accounting) or banking/lending is highly desirable
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish a plus
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and Salesforce preferred
