The City of Sacramento is hiring a part-time General Intern to support the Long-Range Planning Division within the Community Development Department. The role involves assisting with planning policy, community engagement, and various project management tasks related to sustainability and urban agriculture.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of fundamental duties in various divisions of the employing department

Provide basic assistance in research projects, special reports, data collection, and programmatic problem-solving

Gather, compile, tabulate, and report statistical data

Acquire working knowledge of department practices, procedures, equipment, and organizational systems

Respond to community inquires and complaints

Perform related duties as assigned

Required

Must be 16 years of age or older. Beginning January 1, 2027, candidates must be at least 18 years of age to qualify for this program

Knowledge of simple research and statistical methods

Basic knowledge of case management methods

English usage, spelling, and punctuation

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Ability to collect, compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, the general public, and others contacted in the course of work

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions

Preferred

Knowledge or eagerness to learn about urban farming, community organizing, farm/action plan development, healthy food initiatives and collaborative partnerships

Prior (lived) experience or knowledge of Leataata Floyd Elementary School and surrounding community (West Broadway) (Seavey Circle), SHRA public housing (Alder Grove/Marina Vista row housing), Mercy Housing (Land Park Woods apartments)
