Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1 - HELPS

New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) is seeking a Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1 to assist with various onboarding processes and support the property services team. The role involves tracking new hires, scheduling interviews, and maintaining documentation related to employee onboarding.

Responsibilities

Assist with onboarding new hires
Track new hires on Orientation Tracking Spreadsheet
Maintain the Onboarding Calendar
Create DocuShare folders
Work with NYSIF managers to set up day one orientations
Work with Property Services on badging, processing new hire paperwork, completing I-9 verifications and assisting with periodic audits
Assist fellow property services team members on day-to-day operations and employee requests
Oversee both small and large capital projects
Assist in record keeping and timely reports
Schedule interviews for on-site managers as needed
Attend local career fairs
Assist with resume screening
Other occupational duties as assigned

Required

Reachable on current Civil Service eligible list for this title; OR
One year of permanent, competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Titles eligible for transfer include but aren't limited to: Administrative Assistant 1 and 2, Program Aide, Office Assistant 3, Office Assistant 3 (Calculations), Office Assistant 3 (Human Resources); OR
Four years of experience performing and supervising the performance of various human resources activities such as staffing services, which consist of recruitment, examination, and placement activities; position classification and compensation; and employee services such as employee benefit, health and safety, employee counseling, and employee recognition
An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor's degree or higher may substitute for four years of experience
