Manager, Insurance Risk & Controls – Property & Casualty

Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end risk and controls reviews across P&C insurance operations, including claims, reserving, payments, and insurance data management
Plan and execute internal audits of P&C insurance activities, with focus on:
Evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational performance
Testing control execution such as approvals, reconciliations, system access, and segregation of duties
Assessing data accuracy, completeness, and integrity across claims systems, actuarial models, and reserving processes
Identify control deficiencies, process weaknesses, and operational risks, and develop practical, business-focused remediation recommendations
Partner with finance, actuarial, IT, and claims stakeholders to validate data flows, assumptions, and reconciliations
Prepare clear, concise audit deliverables and communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders
Assess and challenge end-to-end control environments, including reliance on third-party vendors and outsourced service providers
Review loss and LAE reserving governance, methodologies, data inputs, and estimation uncertainty
Review, approve, and oversee testing of manual and automated controls
Translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights for business, finance, actuarial, and technology audiences
Manage engagement scope, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations in a temporary or project-based setting
Ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with professional and internal standards
Provide coaching, review, and guidance to team members working in remote or hybrid delivery models
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 7 years' experience in insurance audit, internal audit, or risk consulting roles supporting Property & Casualty insurers
Strong practical expertise across claims operations, reserving processes, internal controls, and insurance data flows
Proven ability to work effectively with senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders
Demonstrated success delivering results in fast-paced, high-pressure, temporary or project-driven engagements
Preferred
Prior experience in public accounting, advisory, or professional services environments strongly preferred
Professional certifications preferred (CPA, CIA, CFE, or relevant insurance credentials)
