Junior Bridge Design Review Engineer (Civil Engineer I)
The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) is seeking a Junior Bridge Design Review Engineer to assist in reviewing bridge designs and related construction issues. The role involves preparing plans, performing calculations, and providing engineering data for various civil engineering projects.

Responsibilities
As an Assistant to the District Bridge Design Engineer, reviews consultant designed bridge designs, construction related issues, and the in-house design of bridge elements for rehabilitation or replacement contracts. Applicable MassDOT and AASHTO standards shall be utilized to verify structural adequacy of proposed bridge projects
Reviews and prepares plans and cost estimates of proposed projects using information from project records and other resources
Performs calculations and/or checks computations made by others
Uses AutoCAD to prepare drawings for contracts and projects to be advertised
Provides engineering data for civil engineering projects such as building or highway construction to plan, design, and construct structures and facilities such as buildings, bridges, roads, and drainage
Performs site visits as needed
Assists in the conduct of investigations to determine the necessity of repair or reconstruction of District structures
Assists to determine feasibility of proposed construction of/or on District bridges and other structures through on-site inspection, discussions, and review of available data
Qualification
Required
Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical or professional experience in civil engineering work in such areas as construction, survey, design, transportation, hydraulics, structural, sanitary, drafting, environmental, highway, architectural, airport, soils and materials or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License may be required
Preferred
Proficiency in various civil engineering software (AutoCAD, GIS, excel, etc.)
Ability to work/interact in a diverse workforce
Strong math skills
Excellent grasp of engineering fundamentals
