Surety Underwriting Assistant
AppleOne Employment Services is seeking a Surety Underwriting Assistant to provide technical and operational support to Commercial Surety Underwriters. The role involves executing underwriting processes, reviewing financial information, managing bond documentation, and ensuring data integrity across systems.
Responsibilities
Review and validate surety bond submissions, including bond applications, indemnity agreements, financial statements, and supporting documentation
Process surety bond transactions, including new bond issuance, renewals, riders/endorsements, cancellations, and mid-term changes within defined authority levels
Review financial statements for surety purposes, assessing completeness, financial strength, and alignment with underwriting requirements
Enter, update, and audit surety account, bond, and agency data across underwriting and document management systems
Support renewal and transactional bond workflows to ensure accurate and timely completion of underwriting tasks
Monitor queues and workflows to meet service standards and underwriting turnaround expectations
Generate reports related to surety risk evaluation, portfolio status, financial review, and underwriting activity
Coordinate directly with surety underwriters, agents, brokers, accounting, and claims teams to resolve data, documentation, or processing issues
Maintain strict compliance with surety underwriting guidelines, authority limits, and documentation standards
Perform additional operational, reporting, and system-related tasks as assigned in support of surety underwriting operations
Qualification
Required
Direct hands-on experience supporting surety bond underwriting (commercial surety, contract surety, and/or fidelity bonds)
Experience processing surety bonds, including issuance, renewals, endorsements/riders, cancellations, and bond documentation
Experience reviewing financial statements specifically for surety bonding purposes, supporting underwriting decisions and bonding capacity evaluations
Familiarity with surety-specific terminology, workflows, and compliance requirements
Experience working directly with surety underwriters and surety agents/brokers in a production environment
Associate's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Prior experience in surety underwriting support or surety bond operations is required
