Technical Product Owner MDG

The Technical Product Owner MDG will play a key role in supporting the Pharm TranSCend program by translating business requirements into actionable project deliverables and ensuring effective solution design for Master Data Governance.

Responsibilities

Gather, refine, and document functional requirements for MDG in collaboration with business stakeholders
Translate business requirements into technical user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows
Conduct workflow analysis to understand current-state processes and propose optimized governance workflows
Perform gap analysis between existing MDG functionality and business needs
Support solution design to ensure compliance with master data governance principles and global platform standards
Maintain and prioritize the Agile backlog, ensuring scope alignment with project capacity and timelines
Oversee development, testing, and cutover activities to confirm delivery meets functional specifications and aligns with the project plan
Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, Scrum ceremonies, and solution reviews
Execute hands-on testing, validation, and acceptance checks for developed solutions
Track and report deliverables against planned milestones and acceptance criteria
Partner closely with internal business stakeholders to confirm priorities, clarify requirements, and gain acceptance for deliverables
Work with the integration partner to validate technical feasibility and align solution design with global standards
Provide transparent progress updates, risks, and issue tracking for all MDG-related developments
Support change management and user adoption through preparation and review of documentation
Ensure all MDG developments adhere to security, compliance, and data protection requirements
Embed data quality controls and governance principles into MDG workflows
Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery processes, templates, and documentation standards

Required

A minimum of a bachelor's degree
A minimum of 6 years of overall working experience
3+ years of experience with workflow-based master data governance platforms (SAP MDG or similar)
Strong understanding of master data governance processes and principles
Proven ability to translate business requirements into functional IT deliverables in large enterprise projects
Strong knowledge with SAP data structures, especially in master data domains (materials, vendors and customers)
Experience working in Agile environments and with backlog/user story management tools (e.g., Jira)
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail in evaluating processes and data
Experience collaborating with external integration partners and internal business process owners
Ability to create process maps, swim lane diagrams, and workflow documentation using appropriate diagramming or workflow visualization tools
Experience in functional testing and validating MDG deliverables against acceptance criteria
Ability to query and analyze data using SQL or SAP reporting tools (e.g., SAP Fiori apps, Analysis for Office)
Understanding of integration touchpoints between MDG and surrounding SAP/non-SAP systems
Skills to perform gap analysis and functional impact assessments
Ability to review and provide feedback on functional specifications and configuration documentation

Preferred

A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required
Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, Consumer Products
SAP MDG certification or advanced functional expertise
Lean requirements gathering and story mapping experience
Ability to pick up technical and business concepts quickly
Experience in regulated industries (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals)
Proficiency in business process modeling and documentation
