Responsibilities

Oversees Point of Care Program
Maintains Inspection Readiness/ Regulatory Agency Compliance
Develops Performance Improvement/Utilization Management Program for POCT
Supports Departments Goals and Objectives
Acts as Pathology Department Representative/Liaison

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree
5 years laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist
Current Louisiana license or temporary license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Specialist
Meets CLIA and CAP requirements for testing personnel relative to scope of duties
ASCP certification or equivalent as a Medical Technologist
Any incumbent certified by ASCP on or after January 1, 2004 must successfully complete the requirements of the ASCP's Certification Maintenance Program
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
Excellent customer service skills required
Skills to work independently required
Skills to work efficiently under pressure and set priorities required
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to deal effectively and courteously with patients, nurses, physicians, management, other healthcare personnel and external contacts
Analytical skills necessary in order to perform calculations, review data, and prepare a variety of reports
