Choice Hotels International, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer 1 to join their Cloud Platform Engineering team. The role involves implementing and maintaining cloud native platform capabilities to support AWS cloud-based Software as a Service solutions.

Responsibilities

Design, Deploy and maintain cloud-based infrastructure based on AWS

Design and implement infrastructure automation including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Site Reliability

Participates in design of cloud application architecture to ensure scalability, availability, observability and security

Assists in the evaluation and operationalization of new tools, technologies and cloud services

Contributes to and promotes best practices and guidelines to ensure continuous improvement in the Cloud Platform

Participates in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours production support

Required

Bachelor's degree in related field required or equivalent experience

Basic knowledge of Linux administration and networking fundamentals

Hands on experience with one or more of the following: One or more scripting languages (Python, Bash, Ruby, PowerShell, or Groovy), Cloud automation templating (CloudFormation or Terraform), Configuration management and deployment automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Salt, or Chef, Continuous Integration and DevOps toolchain technologies such as Jenkins, Git and Nexus, Log aggregation and monitoring tools such as ELK, CloudWatch, Sensu, Prometheus

Must be a self-starter and motivated to work with others to accomplish goals with minimal supervision

Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, both independently and collaboratively

Ability to embrace change and adapt to new technologies quickly

Preferred

Master's degree in related field preferred

Enterprise public cloud experience building and maintaining cloud infrastructure including compute, storage, database, networking, and security related services preferred
