Steel Fabrication Project Manager
Primary Services is a leading structural steel fabricator serving large commercial and industrial customers, and they are seeking a Steel Fabrication Project Manager. In this role, you will oversee multiple large-tonnage projects, ensuring technical accuracy and schedule adherence while coordinating between internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities
Manage multiple commercial structural steel projects ranging from approximately 50 tons to well over 3,000 tons, including projects of 200+ tons each
Oversee composite steel buildings, poured-in-place (PIP) structures, and tilt-wall panel projects from award through completion
Assist detailing firms with project startup, coordination, and completion activities
Review contract documents including design drawings, specifications, and proposals for scope, requirements, and constructability
Review shop drawings and erection plans for accuracy and conformance to contract documents, shop standards, and engineering calculations
Interpret and work from joist and deck, grating, elevator, and aluminum structure drawings
Participate in project conference calls and attend jobsite meetings as needed to resolve technical and scheduling issues
Create and maintain project schedules and phasing plans that align with customer requirements and fabrication capabilities
Ensure submittal, approval, and delivery deadlines are met throughout detailing, fabrication, and erection stages
Maintain and update project documentation including RFI logs, change order logs, and drawing logs
Identify, address, and execute solutions to issues arising during detailing, fabrication, or erection
Work 10–12+ hours of overtime per week as project workload requires
Qualification
Required
2–5 years of experience in structural steel project management and detailing for commercial projects
Proven ability to manage multiple projects of 200+ tons each; consistent experience at 300–400+ tons per project strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of AISC and NISD standards for structural steel
Solid understanding of steel connections and engineering calculations
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Project
Experience with ACAD and 3D modeling software for structural steel
Ability to handle multiple projects at different stages simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Availability and willingness to work 10–12+ hours of overtime per week on a regular basis
Preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent industry experience in structural steel
Experience with SDS (highly preferred) and/or Tekla
