Responsibilities

Own and Manage Monthly Close: Oversee and manage the outsourced accounting provider while implementing and leading a disciplined, accurate, and GAAP-compliant monthly close process across multiple entities, delivering timely and transparent financial results the business can count on
Board, Investor, and Lender Reporting. Prepare monthly and quarterly board financial packages, including variance analysis, KPI performance, and rolling cash projections. Own lender covenant calculations, compliance certificates, and reporting calendars; maintain proactive covenant management and clear communication. Serve as primary finance contact for lenders, auditors, and tax advisors; coordinate audit readiness, tax compliance, and annual filing calendars
Build a Scalable Financial Infrastructure: Establish the systems, processes, and controls needed to support a growing, multi-site organization, laying the groundwork for future scale without sacrificing precision. Lead the adoption and evolution of an ERP environment (starting from QuickBooks and progressing to a scalable platform), including process design, controls, and reporting requirements. Drive point-of-sale (POS) and ancillary system integration to enable accurate location-level reporting and automated data flows
Deliver Forward-Looking Financial Insight: Drive the development of rolling forecasts, long-term financial models, budgets, and quarterly outlooks that support company’s growth plan and decision-making
Turn Data into Decisions: Create dashboards and reporting tools that bring financial and operational metrics to life, surfacing trends, highlighting opportunities, and guiding smart, timely action. Standardize master data and reporting definitions across the platform
Strengthen Working Capital & Cash Flow: Optimize vendor payables, bank balances, and payment terms to ensure healthy cash flow and efficient use of capital. Forecast liquidity and flag needs early
Strengthen Procurement & Inventory Discipline: Manage strategic ordering to maximize rebates / promotions and inventory processes at each center and across the consolidated entity, ensuring consistent availability, accurate counts/valuation, and clean purchasing controls that protect margin
Lead with Discipline & Detail: Rigorously review invoices, payroll, and related reconciliations to ensure compensation accuracy, deferred revenue is redeemed, recognized, and tracked correctly, and inventory counts and valuation are accurate to avoid margin distortion. Proactively flag discrepancies, risks, and information gaps with stakeholders. Manage compliance with lender covenants and reporting, and maintain clear, proactive communication with lenders
Support M&A Integration: Own the finance diligence workstream for acquisitions, including quality of earnings support, working capital analysis, balance sheet validation, and control over diligence progress/timelines. Collaborate with the Co-CEOs on Day One readiness and post-close operating rhythm. Lead post-close finance integration: align acquired entities to Athena’s systems, close calendar, chart of accounts, controls, reporting standards, and KPI definitions. Support purchase accounting, earn-out tracking, and integration reporting for acquisitions
Partner Across the Business: Act as a financial thought partner to the Co-CEOs and operators, bringing both structure and insight to day-to-day decision-making. Communicate clearly, operate with integrity, and help raise the bar
Champion Operational Excellence: Ensure high-quality, error-free financial work. Double-check everything, ask smart questions, and improve what isn’t working with no ego and a solutions-first mindset
