Responsibilities

Supervises, directs and manages all aspects of HIV case and incidence surveillance in California
Manages the activities of the Quality Management Unit (QMU), the Data Management Unit (DMU) and the Data Analysis and Matching Unit (DAMU)
Supervises staff focused on conducting complex analyses of surveillance data to improve prevention, care, and treatment programs in California
Develops dissemination products based on surveillance data
Completes complex data requests
Develops new and complex data management processes
Ensures complete reporting from all California clinical laboratories
Oversees 61 LHJ surveillance contracts
Responsible for overseeing data security and confidentiality issues for the Surveillance Section and surveillance activities at all LHJs in California

Required

Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree in a relevant field
Experience in supervising and managing staff
Experience in conducting complex analyses of surveillance data
Ability to develop dissemination products based on surveillance data
Experience in completing complex data requests
Experience in developing new and complex data management processes
Knowledge of data security and confidentiality issues
Ability to oversee surveillance activities at local health jurisdictions
Ability to travel up to 5%
Ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing

Benefits

Effective July 2025, California’s Personal Leave Program (PLP 2025) reduces employees’ base pay by 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits monthly through June 2027.
Individuals with both a Master’s and Doctoral Degree will be given the best benefit in relation to salary shall only be eligible for only one amount.
