Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
Perform general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and journal entries using accounting software Xero
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections
Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
Ensure compliance with SOX controls, LIHTC regulations, and other regulatory reporting standards
Support tax preparation activities and maintain documentation for audits
Maintain detailed documentation of financial transactions and reports for internal use and external audits
Mentor junior staff members, providing guidance on technical accounting issues such as accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, securities law, and estate law as applicable
Contribute to process improvements in financial reporting workflows and internal controls
Qualification
Required
Detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant
Strong technical accounting skills
Familiarity with diverse financial software
Ability to interpret complex financial data
Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
Perform general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and journal entries using accounting software Xero
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections
Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records

Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial concepts, and technical accounting principles including SOX compliance
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms
Ability to perform complex account analysis including balance sheet reconciliation, cash flow analysis, and bank reconciliation
Skilled in financial report writing and interpretation of financial statements for management review
Excellent understanding of debits & credits, journal entries, accruals, and double entry bookkeeping
Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct detailed financial analysis and forecasting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and report generation
Effective mentoring abilities to support team development in areas such as regulatory compliance and best practices in accounting procedures
Preferred
Experience with corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or public accounting environments
Familiarity with LIHTC programs, securities law, wills & trusts & estate law
