Intern - Communications - Spring/Summer 2026
The State of Missouri is seeking a part-time Communications intern in the Office of the Director at the Missouri Department of Agriculture. This internship offers a dynamic, skill-building experience in agricultural communications, focusing on photography, videography, graphic design, and social media engagement.

Responsibilities
Photography - shooting various photo stories and providing event coverage
Videography - shooting and editing for website, social media use and various Department video requests
Graphic design - create print and website graphics for the Department, including websites, brochures, handouts, signage, etc
Special Events - help plan and assist with special events during the internship as needed
Social media - assist our team in growing our social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and Flickr
Writing - support writing needs of the Department, including news releases, editorial pieces and website content
Assist with monthly Employee Newsletter and current weekly e-blast
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be a current college student with a minimum 3.0 GPA pursuing a degree in Agricultural Communications, Digital Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
Ability to work at the MDA office in Jefferson City a minimum of 12 hours per week in the Spring (mid-January to mid-May) and full time in the summer
Beginners' knowledge, at minimum, of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
Understanding of basic photography and graphic design principles
Beginning to intermediate knowledge of videography
Interest in Missouri agriculture
