Paid Search Strategist
Understory is a specialized agency focused on paid media management and go-to-market engineering for B2B SaaS companies. As a Paid Search Strategist, you will manage client accounts, design and implement tailored paid search strategies, and optimize campaigns to drive measurable growth for clients.

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary account manager for clients who engage Understory for paid search services
Design and implement paid search strategies tailored to client needs
Provide ongoing optimization and support for client accounts
Manage regular optimizations of paid marketing campaigns
Ensure proper tracking, attribution, and reporting for campaign performance
Monitor lead quality and volume for client accounts
Maintain 6-8 client accounts and optimize accounts based on client goals
Provide weekly status updates on internal and client projects
Respond to client requests within 12 business hours
Deliver monthly performance reports and client relationship status reports
Participate in client meetings as required
Actively monitor account budgets to ensure correct pacing
Maintain documentation for account changes and budget pacing
Qualification
Required
5+ years of hands-on experience managing paid search campaigns, including for B2B SaaS companies
Proven track record managing significant monthly ad spend ($50k+ per month across accounts)
Experience working with a team (preferably in a supervisor or managerial role)
Expert-level knowledge of Google Ads & Microsoft Ads platforms
Experience with conversion tracking, attribution modeling, and performance measurement
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and data analysis
Advanced understanding of paid search platforms including campaign types, bidding strategies, and optimization techniques
Experience with all campaign types (Search, Display, Video, Demand Gen, etc.)
Familiarity with tracking implementations, UTM parameters, and attribution methodologies
Knowledge of A/B testing methodologies and statistical significance
Experience with reporting tools and dashboard creation
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously
Strong communication skills for internal collaboration and client updates
Proactive problem-solving approach with ability to work independently
Organized approach to campaign management and documentation
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
Preferred
Experience with B2B SaaS marketing funnels and pipeline attribution
Familiarity with CRM platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce) and marketing automation tools
Knowledge of Clay, Fibbler, or similar data enrichment and workflow automation tools
Previous agency experience managing multiple client accounts
Understanding of go-to-market strategies and demand generation
