New Business Development Manager

The Jor-Mac Company is seeking a New Business Development Manager who will report to the CEO. This role is responsible for identifying and securing new customers and revenue opportunities, focusing on market expansion and early-stage customer development while collaborating with various departments to ensure profitable growth.

Responsibilities

Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities aligned with target markets, capabilities, and margin expectations
Develop and execute prospecting strategies using market research, networking, referrals, trade shows, and outbound outreach
Lead initial customer engagement, discovery discussions, and qualification efforts
Own the new business pipeline from first contact through handoff to Account Management
Analyze market trends, customer segments, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities
Partner with leadership to define target industries, customer profiles, and go-to-market strategies
Support entry into new markets, industries, or product lines
Provide voice-of-customer insights to inform strategic planning and capital investment decisions
Coordinate with Engineering, Inside Sales, Operations, and Finance to develop competitive, accurate, and profitable quotes
Ensure customer requirements, technical specifications, and commercial terms are clearly understood and communicated
Lead proposal presentations, capability reviews, and customer site visits
Work closely with Operations and Engineering to ensure new business aligns with current and future capacity
Partner with Quality to understand customer compliance, certification, and quality system requirements
Coordinate smooth transition of new customers to Account Management and Customer Service teams
Support onboarding of new customers to ensure a strong start and long-term retention
Maintain accurate pipeline and opportunity data in CRM/ERP systems
Track and report key metrics including:
New customer wins
Revenue and margin from new business
Conversion rates and sales cycle duration
Provide regular updates to leadership on pipeline health, risks, and opportunities
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Adhere to all Jor-Mac and OSHA safety related work rules and procedures
Other duties as assigned or required

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles within manufacturing
Demonstrated success in new customer acquisition and revenue growth
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and commercial decision drivers
Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office tool
Strong prospecting, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Strategic thinker with a growth mindset
High level of initiative, accountability, and self-direction
Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
Data-driven decision making and financial acumen
Regular travel to customer sites, trade shows, and industry events (estimated 30–50%)

Preferred

Experience in contract manufacturing, metal fabrication, or engineered-to-order environments
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Experience selling into OEM, industrial, or engineered product markets
