Senior Manufacturing / Customer Quality Engineer

Promax is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manufacturing / Customer Quality Engineer to lead quality assurance initiatives within their manufacturing facility. This pivotal role combines expertise in manufacturing processes and customer-focused quality management to ensure products meet the highest standards of excellence.

Responsibilities

Provide manufacturing and process engineering support for automotive component development and mass production
Lead root cause analysis and structured problem solving (8D) to resolve manufacturing and customer quality issues
Develop, review, and approve manufacturing processes, routings, GD&T, fixtures, tooling, and process flow documentation
Lead and participate in machining process reviews (turning, milling, drilling, grinding, etc.)
Identify and resolve issues related to dimensional variation, process capability, materials, heat treatment, and surface finishes
Collaborate on CNC/CAM programming, injection molding, welding, and CNC machining to improve productivity
Oversee project scheduling for process improvements, new product launches, equipment upgrades, and ECN/ECR implementation
Drive lean manufacturing, cost reduction, and productivity improvement initiatives
Support quality systems including PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, PPAP, ISO 9001 compliance, vision systems, and equipment calibration
Serve as the onsite technical and quality interface for automotive customers
Lead customer quality issues, complaints, corrective actions, and technical presentations
Conduct factory audits to ensure safety, quality, and continuous improvement compliance
Collaborate with global plants and suppliers, including China-based manufacturing teams (Mandarin communication)
Coordinate and track corrective and preventive actions with cross-functional teams to ensure permanent closure

Required

Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
8+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, process engineering, quality, or customer engineering
Strong hands-on knowledge of machining and metal manufacturing processes
Solid experience with automotive quality tools (APQP, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans)
Experience supporting products from development through mass production
Experience working with overseas manufacturing sites or China-based suppliers
Fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin)
Ability to work onsite and collaborate across time zones
Extensive experience with project scheduling tools and methodologies to manage multiple concurrent initiatives effectively
Strong root cause analysis skills with proficiency in troubleshooting complex production issues using data-driven approaches
Advanced proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo; familiarity with schematics design is essential
Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices aimed at continuous improvement within a manufacturing facility setting
Ability to interpret technical drawings including GD&T specifications; experience with vision inspection systems is a plus
Mechanical knowledge spanning fabrication techniques, tooling design, assembly line optimization, and industrial equipment maintenance
Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards ensuring quality management system compliance across all processes
Strong background in industrial engineering principles applied to process engineering enhancements in a factory environment
