Technical Accessibility Coordinator
UTHealth Houston is seeking a Technical Accessibility Coordinator to ensure that the university's digital platforms, physical environments, and communication materials are fully accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities. This role focuses on implementing and maintaining compliance with federal and state accessibility regulations and collaborating with various departments to foster an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities
Ensures all UTHealth Houston websites, applications, and digital content meet WCAG standards and are accessible to individuals using assistive technologies
Conducts regular audits of digital platforms using tools such as screen readers, contrast analyzers, and keyboard navigation testing
Collaborates with web developers and IT teams to address accessibility gaps in new and existing systems
Oversees the accessibility of digital learning materials and student portals to enhance the experience for students with disabilities
Ensures that UTHealth Houston's campus facilities comply with ADA standards, including ramps, elevators, accessible restrooms, and clear signage
Conducts periodic reviews of physical spaces and work with facilities management to implement necessary improvements
Maintains records of accessibility audits and corrective actions to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including Section 508 and ADA Title II
Develops reports on accessibility initiatives and submits them to leadership and regulatory bodies as needed
Acts as the primary resource for accessibility-related inquiries from faculty, students, and staff
Assists in developing UTHealth Houston's accessibility policies in alignment with university goals and regulatory standards
Advocates for accessibility and inclusivity in all university projects, programs, and initiatives, ensuring that the needs of individuals with disabilities are considered from the outset
Serves as a liaison between the university and external disability services organizations and stakeholders
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required

Strong communication and training skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to various audiences
Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws and regulations regarding accessibility (ADA, Section 504, Section 508)
Knowledge and completion of Accessibility Coordinator course(s) offered by the State of Texas
Associate's Degree in a related field required. May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement
1 year in a related field required. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects
This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas
