Systems Administrator
Valley First Credit Union is a billion-dollar credit union serving nearly 80,000 members in California's Central Valley. They are seeking a Systems Administrator responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of enterprise systems, ensuring high availability, security, and performance of critical systems.
Responsibilities
Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, operating systems, and enterprise applications
Monitor system performance and resource utilization; troubleshoot and resolve issues to minimize downtime
Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and configuration changes in accordance with best practices
Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity
Automate routine tasks using scripting and configuration management tools
Maintain accurate technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and recovery plans
Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve complex technical issues and support new implementations
Ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements
Serve as the escalation point for internal technical issues that require advanced troubleshooting and resolution
Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning initiatives
Assist with audits and compile compliance documentation as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Two to five years of experience in a financial institution or a related technology environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows Server administration
Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware and Hyper-V, as well as cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
Proficiency in scripting languages including PowerShell and Bash, and in query tools like SQL
Hands-on experience with backup utilities such as Veeam and other enterprise backup solutions
Background working with banking core systems, including Symitar (Jack Henry) and related integrations
Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 administration and Cisco networking fundamentals
Ability to perform application administration tasks such as managing system files, parameter settings, configuration tables, and database edits
Knowledge of networking fundamentals and storage systems
Ability to interpret and apply system requirements and design criteria
Familiarity with structured quality assurance testing, program development, and process support in a systems environment
Capability to create screen mockups to visualize requirements for SMEs and adjust based on feedback
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks within specific guidelines and time constraints
Excellent documentation and communication abilities
Technical aptitude to understand complex programs and applications
Displays courtesy, tact, and diplomacy during personal contact with others inside and/or outside of the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented, organized, accurate and ability to adapt to change. Excellent decision making and time management skills
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to trouble-shoot problems and research capabilities of current or proposed products
Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; typing; viewing a computer screen and reading
Climb/descend stairs in an emergency situation
Operate routine office equipment including personal computers, copy machines, mobile and landline phones, calculator and others as needed
Maintain working on a computer for six to eight hours daily, on average
Work extended hours if required or requested by management
Regular, reliable and timely attendance
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise
Perform job functions independently, or with limited supervision, and work effectively either on own or as part of a team
Read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions
Speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence
Effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities
Exercise highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters
