The Press Support Associate will assist Press Operators in setting up and operating printing presses to produce pressure sensitive labels and related products, while gaining valuable skills in the printing industry.

Responsibilities
Follows guidance and direction from Press Operator
Reads job order and loads dies into press, installs print cylinder on shaft and installs print cylinder in press
Fills ink pans, screens and pumps with prescribed inks
Inserts shaft through core and secures roll on press in feed position
Splices end of roll to stock remaining on press and adjusts tension and feed as directed
Starts press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock to the print cylinder as necessary
Engages print cylinders; adjusts printing impression as necessary, places print cylinders lead-to-lead and runs down approval strip
Cuts sample of approval strip from printed roll, inspects for imperfections such as print to print out of register, print to die out of register, missing impression, ink starvation or color adjustments, making adjustments as necessary
Cleans plates, print cylinders and dies as needed
Removes trash as needed
Assists in the performance of daily, weekly and monthly maintenance as required
Supervisor must approve all maintenance
Mixes inks to produce and maintain desired colors and viscosity
Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards
Qualification
Required
Ability to follow guidance and direction from Press Operator
Ability to read job orders and load dies into press
Ability to install print cylinder on shaft and install print cylinder in press
Ability to fill ink pans, screens and pumps with prescribed inks
Ability to insert shaft through core and secure roll on press in feed position
Ability to splice end of roll to stock remaining on press and adjust tension and feed as directed
Ability to start press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock to the print cylinder as necessary
Ability to engage print cylinders and adjust printing impression as necessary
Ability to place print cylinders lead-to-lead and run down approval strip
Ability to cut sample of approval strip from printed roll and inspect for imperfections
