Responsibilities
Assist physicians and other medical personnel in achieving timely, accurate, and complete documentation practices
Analyze the assembled record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations
Assign deficiencies to the appropriate medical staff member, and enter data for tracking and monitoring purposes
Notify medical staff members and hold them accountable for chart completion items
Assist medical staff members in their chart completion effort, and carry out the suspension process if records are not completed in a timely manner
Review documentation and update or clear deficiencies as appropriate once the medical staff member addresses documentation deficiencies or adds a document to the analyzed record
Answer telephone calls and assist visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality
Support the department needs through assistance in any of the Tech I, Release of Information, or other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum one year health information management experience in acute care setting
Accurate alphabetic, numeric, and/or terminal-digit filing skills
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred
Knowledge of terminal digit filing and medical terminology
Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements for medical staff documentation
Computer data entry with 10-key, with accurate typing speed of 35 wpm
Completion of a medical terminology course
Background in business and office training
