Hatchery/Facilities Mechanical Technician

Responsibilities

This position installs, maintains, and repairs FSUCML shellfish hatchery facility and physical plant systems lab wide, including electrical; HVAC; general plumping and seawater
This position assists in project planning by producing cost estimates and procurement; reads and follows blueprints and other verbal or written instructions; and completes repair orders
Drives University vehicles as required
Responsible for other duties as assigned within the department

Required

High school diploma/equivalency and two years of experience
Ability to meet the physical requirements of this position, which include repeated bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and working under extreme outdoor conditions
Must have a valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License, or the ability to obtain prior to hire

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices
Knowledge of the practices and the ability to perform skilled carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or other related trades work
Knowledge of general maintenance principles, practices, and techniques
Working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office
