Senior Associate General Counsel - Staff Attorney 3
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development is seeking a Senior Associate General Counsel to join their team. This role involves conducting legal research, providing legal advice on complex topics, and assisting with rulemaking and compliance with state and federal laws.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Conduct legal research, writing, and analysis and provide legal advice to the Department on various complex and/or novel topics within the Department, including but not limited to, the Department’s Paid Family and Medical Leave and Broadband Divisions
Assist with the Department’s rulemaking activities
Assist with the Department’s complex and/or high-profile data practices activities including privacy and security incident analysis
Provide the Department with legal expertise to support the Department’s compliance with state and federal laws
Monitor litigation involving the Department to coordinate litigation-related information and activities
Qualification
Required
Three (3) years of legal experience as a practicing attorney which must include conducting legal research, writing, and analysis. Judicial clerkship experience will count towards this criteria
Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school
Licensed to practice law in Minnesota and current with continuing legal education requirements
Experience providing legal advice to senior management or executives
Preferred
Experience in one (1) or more of the following areas of law related to the position: Rulemaking under the Minnesota Administrative Procedures Act and/or other administrative processes, Minnesota's Family and Medical Benefit Insurance program, State and/or federal Broadband laws and regulations, Employment law, Government grants/contracts/acquisitions, Civil litigation, The Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and/or other privacy laws
Experience planning and delivering complex legal training to non-legal audiences
Experience working with the Minnesota Attorney General's Office and/or State government agencies
Preferred candidates will have a variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures
