Responsibilities
Create user guides, API documentation, release notes, and other technical materials for a software development project
Develop a style guide to standardize documentation across the project
Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and SMEs in an Agile environment
Maintain strong version control and documentation review practices
Ensure all documentation meets agency standards, accessibility guidelines, and formatting requirements
Manage multiple documentation projects and meet deadlines
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or related field
5+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in government or technology
Expertise in MS Word, Google Docs, Confluence, or similar documentation tools
Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, SnagIT, or similar visual tools
Experience with Git or version control platforms (GitBook or similar)
Familiarity with Scrum/Agile methodology
Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and software architecture concepts
Ability to read code snippets and interview SMEs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
Preferred
Experience with government documentation standards and accessibility compliance
Familiarity with diagramming tools (Lucidchart, Draw.io, etc.)
Basic knowledge of programming languages or IT systems
UX writing experience
Knowledge of Markdown and HTML/CSS
Experience writing for SaaS, desktop, or mobile software products
