Development Manager

The Indo-American Center (IAC) is a community-based non-profit organization focused on improving the quality of life for the South Asian immigrant population. The Development Manager will oversee fundraising activities, including special events and grant-writing, while collaborating with the Executive Director and other stakeholders to enhance the organization's impact.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership on all aspects of managing a signature annual gala for the organization
Coordinate all logistics leading up to and on day of the event
Manage all vendors from negotiating rates, confirming contracts/deliverables, and ensuring quality delivery
Develop print and electronic marketing/event materials
Manage donation platform to ensure tickets and donations are accurate
Manage volunteers and on-site staff for flawless execution
Develop communications and lead online and small in person events and mail appeals
Provide media relations support - managing press/media for events
Understand IAC programs and impact on the community by attending an outreach or IAC event, at least 1 every two months, more if possible
Develop communications materials to assist with donor outreach and cultivation activities, supporting Board members and Executive Director
Provide leadership and support with a variety of marketing and communications activities, including the organization’s e-newsletter, website and social media channels
Manage donor database (Salesforce), including mailing lists, gift recording, and donor acknowledgements
Coordinate and track donations with finance team to ensure accurate and timely recording
Lead and manage the grants development process: research prospective funders that align with our program needs, manage the application process - working with finance, program leads and ED to write and submit grant applications
Maintain a portfolio of current and prospective grant funders
Maintain a calendar of grant activities to include proposal/application due dates, reporting, and renewals
Attend information sessions, RFP meetings or other community forums to interact with potential funders, program managers and possible collaborative partners
Collaborate with program and administrative staff on grant content and all related attachments
Manage tracking of grant awards, deliverables, reporting and timely receipt of funds
Work in partnership with ED and Board fundraising committee chair to develop an annual fund-raising plan
Schedule and lead Board fundraising committee meetings
Participate in developing fundraising 3-5 year strategic plan under ED leadership

Required

A Bachelor's Degree is required
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of successful experience in grant writing, fundraising and/or communications in a nonprofit setting
Strong proofreading and detail-oriented research and writing skills
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Exceptional organizational skills
Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends for events and presentations

Preferred

Experience with event management is preferred
Oral fluency in a South Asian language preferred
Experience with Salesforce, Mailchimp and social media platforms is preferred
