Quality Manager

Axion Recruitment is seeking a Quality Manager for their precision CNC machining operations in Woodlawn, MD. The Quality Manager will oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) and inspection processes, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and standards while driving continuous improvement across the business.

Responsibilities

Leading and supervising the inspection team across receiving, in-process, and final inspections
Owning and maintaining the QMS, including procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation
Driving APQP activities for new product launches, engineering changes, and FAI/AS9102 submissions
Managing MRB processes and disposition of non-conforming product
Serving as the main point of contact for customer and regulatory audits, including preparation and follow-up
Leading root cause investigations and corrective actions using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, and similar tools
Partnering with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Purchasing to implement inspection plans, supplier quality controls, and process controls
Tracking and improving key metrics such as scrap, rework, customer complaints, PPM, and on-time delivery
Implementing and managing SPC programs to monitor process capability and stability
Coaching and developing the quality team through training, performance management, and delegation
Supporting cross-functional initiatives such as FMEA, risk management, process validation, and value engineering

Required

5+ years of management experience in QA/QC within a precision manufacturing environment (CNC machining strongly preferred)
Strong knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP, including audit leadership and QMS compliance
Advanced blueprint reading skills, including GD&T interpretation
Hands-on experience with inspection tools including CMM (Zeiss preferred), micrometers, and comparators
Strong working knowledge of quality tools and methodologies including Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, FMEA, SPC, APQP, and root cause analysis
Strong Excel and data analysis skills (ERP/MRP experience such as Global Shop is a plus)
Proven ability to lead teams, work cross-functionally, and drive decisions in a fast-moving environment
Self-motivated with a track record of improving quality performance and managing multiple priorities

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field (Not Essential)
Certifications such as ASQ CQE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or AS9100 Lead Auditor
