Technical Product Manager - Grid Control & Automation
Peak Demand is a global leader in engineering and digital innovation, delivering mission-critical power system software. The Technical Product Manager will blend product strategy, engineering execution, and customer engagement to support product development and technical pre-sales activities in transmission and distribution automation.
Responsibilities
Translate customer, utility, and market needs into clear functional, non-functional, and technical product requirements
Own and manage product backlogs, ensuring alignment between roadmap priorities and engineering execution
Validate that delivery plans, architecture decisions, and implementations align with intended product outcomes
Continuously assess technical and business risks, partnering with development and architecture teams to address them proactively
Act as a bridge between engineering, QA, architecture, and business stakeholders, ensuring shared understanding across teams
Collaborate with product marketing, business analysts, and sales teams to support product positioning and adoption
Serve as a subject matter expert for internal teams on product capabilities, use cases, and limitations
Monitor technology trends within grid automation, digital energy, and utility software
Conduct competitive analysis to assess product differentiation and capability gaps
Use industry insights to inform roadmap decisions and future product investments
Lead technical pre-sales efforts, including solution walkthroughs, demos, and architecture discussions
Support sales and marketing teams by responding to technical product questions and customer inquiries
Coordinate and manage beta programs, defining success criteria and incorporating feedback into product improvements
Deliver product training sessions for internal teams and external stakeholders
Ensure creation and maintenance of high-quality product documentation, including technical specs and user-facing materials
Establish consistent product processes and methodologies that enable scale and repeatability
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience in product engineering or technical product management within the power and energy sector
(Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience also considered)
Strong background in transmission and distribution automation, grid control software, or utility digital solutions
4+ years of experience acting as a Product Owner in Agile development environments
5+ years working within Agile-based SDLCs supporting enterprise-scale software products
Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and modern software delivery pipelines
Proven ability to gather, synthesize, and manage complex technical requirements
Scripting or programming experience sufficient to collaborate effectively with engineering teams
Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
