Responsibilities
Consult with other Engineers, Product Managers, and Project Managers to ensure best practices in engineering design are utilized for all products
Perform engineering calculations to support product development, including fluid flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, etc
Ensure new and continuing products meet all applicable codes (e.g., ASME, PED, CRN, UL, CE, CSA, etc.)
Ensure proper tests have been considered to verify designs and minimize risk at product launch
PLC and HMI Programming, including Schneider Electric and OMRON PLCs and HMIs
Assist in design of our Standard PSA Oxygen and Nitrogen Equipment
Maybe asked to assist with Startups for our PSA and VPSA Oxygen Systems
Maintain and prepare design documentation per CAIRE’s product development process
Collaborate with engineering groups at other CAIRE sites to standardize design practices
Develop calculation packages that serve to automate routine calculations
Work with suppliers to design and develop subcomponents and subassemblies
Evaluate and contribute to product documentation
Assist with validation testing of products
Work with manufacturing engineering, quality, and production to ensure production readiness and successful product launch of new or revised products
Work with Manufacturing in the planning of new tools and fixture designs
Cooperate with Quality and Purchasing to improve purchase part quality and reliability
Assist Technical Support team with troubleshooting existing products and systems
Manage PSA custom projects for timely delivery
Participate in BOM Entry, New Part number generation, PSA Custom Projects set-ups
Coordinates equipment purchase for custom projects and follow ups
Assist Shipping department with any information requirement
Participates in Engineering Change Notices, Deviations, NCRs, Drawing Reviews and Quality Check
Assisting in preparation of Product Marketing Documentation such as catalogs, specification sheets and Operating Manuals
Communicate effectively with internal and external customers
Some Travel is expected, can possibly include International Travel
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Observe and practice safety procedures and policies
This is a hands-on position for an individual who understands medical product demands, manufacturing workflow, and quality processes
Qualification
Required
BS degree required
Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Highly motivated self-starter
Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple tasks
Understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office: esp. Excel, Word and PowerPoint
General understanding and experience with Quality Systems, including ISO, MDD, and FDA requirements
General knowledge of pressure vessel codes
General understanding of business software use, CAD systems, and Quality & Design Control systems
General knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering design principles including structural, thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, power and controls
Knowledge of PLC and HMI hardware, programming and communications
Volume manufacturing and project-based experience
Preferred
MS degree is a plus
At least 3 years of experience bringing new products to life in small to mid-sized companies
SolidWorks CAD skills preferred
Exposure to JD Edwards, SAP, or similar ERP system a plus
