PROJECT MANAGEMENT ANALYST 2
Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is the largest industrial employer in Virginia, specializing in the design and construction of U.S. Navy vessels. The Project Management Analyst 2 will oversee ongoing projects, manage operational aspects, and act as a liaison among various stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.

Responsibilities
Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management
Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports
Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives
Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 1 years of relevant professional experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate, Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience, Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience, High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience, High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Preferred
Expectation is not to be the subject matter expert, but must ensure the work presented reflects thorough analysis, logical structure, actionable next steps and completed staff work
Strong communication skills; both verbal and technical writing skills with internal and external parties
Strong understanding of project management processes and knowledge areas
Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly identify gaps or missing elements in plans, such as absent ECDs, unclear next steps or incomplete deliverables
General excel knowledge of chart creations and filtering data, data cleaning and generating reports
Demonstrates the ability to ask the right questions and gather the necessary context to ensure a complete understanding of the problem before pursuing solutions
Skilled at synthesizing information from multiple stakeholders, documents and data sources to form a clear picture of objectives, challenges and dependencies
General knowledge of engineering and design processes and tools on submarines or carriers
General knowledge of shipbuilding including its full value stream
Ability to develop and track POA&Ms for technical work plans
Ability to work in ambiguity and with autonomy
