Clinical Laboratory Scientist- Core Lab/PRN

They are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist responsible for analyzing laboratory specimens, reporting results, and performing quality control maintenance. This role also involves clerical work and assisting the manager as needed.

Responsibilities

Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures
Reports test results in a timely manner and according to established laboratory protocol and procedures
Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control and reports discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor
Maintains work area—cleans bench, restocks supplies, notifies supervisor of low stock
Performs daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed, maintenance on instruments and equipment as appropriate. Performs calibration of equipment as required
Troubleshoots instruments, equipment, reagents, and patient specimens when problems occur. Notifies the supervisor or senior tech if unable to solve the problem
Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety procedures. When handling blood and/or body fluids, universal precaution procedures will be followed in order to minimize exposure to infectious diseases. Safety policies and procedures will be followed when using chemicals
Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure
Responsible for working in all departments of the laboratory when working the night shift

Required

Bachelor's Degree Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology Required
Clinical Lab Technologist Licensed State of Florida Upon Hire Required
Ability to multi-task
Computer skills
Good organization and communication skills
Medical terminology
Must have strong organizational skills
Problem solving and decision making capabilities
Familiarity with the Pathology information system
Strong time management skills
Ability to deal well with people
Experience in quality control and quality assurance activities
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Maintains proficiency in laboratory bench work
Strong attention to detail
Ability to develop strong, trusting relationships with medical staff and department personnel
Excellent customer service skills
Strong interpersonal and team skills
Knowledge of clinical sample processing and patient testing
Knowledge of principles, practices, procedures and equipment of assigned subject area
