Survey Crew Technician

The N.C. Department of Information Technology is dedicated to enhancing public safety in North Carolina. The Survey Crew Technician will perform geodetic surveying tasks, including boundary surveys and data analysis, as well as assisting in the maintenance of survey equipment and safety inspections.

Responsibilities

Perform all aspects of geodetic surveying including public trust lands research, county and state boundary surveys, research, and analysis and processing of survey data
Install antenna mounts on designated structures along with GPS receivers and accompanying hardware
Perform maintenance of the Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS), visiting the CORS sites to assist in troubleshooting when problems arise
Assist with system upgrades
Assist crew members in digging holes, carrying concrete bags from truck to monument site, and/or hand mixing and pouring concrete setting disks to establish new monuments
Wear and maintain required personal protective wear
Maintain and perform daily safety inspections of vehicles, recording findings in vehicle logs and/or safety reports
Assist with the monument recovery process including but not limited to performing the following duties: Drawing visibility diagrams, Taking photos of recovered monuments, Data entry into Windesc Program, Measuring new references for monument descriptions, Maintaining survey equipment and making necessary adjustments

Required

Associate's degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience using Global Navigating Satellite System to perform geodetic and boundary surveys
Experience mixing and pouring concrete, digging holes, and installing antenna mounts
Ability to perform all aspects of geodetic surveying including public trust lands research, county and state boundary surveys, research, and analysis and processing of survey data
Ability to install antenna mounts on designated structures along with GPS receivers and accompanying hardware
