Responsibilities

Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
Ability to understand the product drawings / documentation and relay this information to the partner's team in order to meet production requirements per the contract
Support Production of mission critical electronic, mechanical and pneumatic hardware: solve problems, maintain process control, provide hands-on support, train operators, etc
Understand and improve the day to day function of complex mechanical assembly/test production cells, applying knowledge of Kaizen, 5S, process control, and complexity reduction
Participate in new product introduction to include design for manufacturing reviews, production process design, pre-production coordination and initial build set-up for any new products
Identify and implement cost reduction and/or quality improvement actions

Required

BS in Mechanical, Industrial or Process Engineering
3 - 5 years' plant experience as an engineer in the preferably connected to the PCB or cable and harness assembly industry
Self-directed, highly detail oriented, organized, and flexible
Skills and understanding of process development and process control, particularly as applicable to printed wiring board and complex cable and harness assembly
Ability to provide useful Design for Manufacturing/Design for Test inputs during product development phase and validate these through the NPI process
Understanding of plant safety, OSHA regulations, hazardous material handling
Strong communication skills, with experience developing computer-based methods & procedures
Hands-on leadership style; highly interactive
Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
Ability to understand the product drawings / documentation and relay this information to the partner's team in order to meet production requirements per the contract
Employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and bend throughout the day
Employee is regularly required to see and observe small labels, and components
Wear required PPE according to Wabtec policy
The employee will work in a light manufacturing environment, with frequent exposure to electric tools, occasional loud noises and possible exposure to fumes

Preferred

Understanding of plant safety, OSHA regulations, hazardous material handling is desired
Familiarity with operator training is desired
Other desirable traits are formal training in Lean Manufacturing techniques
Formal training in problem solving skills (such as six sigma or Shainin)
