Staff DevOps Engineer (Hands-On, Initiative Leader)
Action1 is an autonomous endpoint management platform that is cloud-native and highly secure. The Staff DevOps Engineer will lead initiatives in the DevOps function, focusing on infrastructure reliability, automation, and deployment strategy while partnering with IT Operations to scale the cloud platform.
Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end DevOps function: set standards, define the roadmap, and deliver multi-quarter improvements to infrastructure, automation, and reliability
Architect and evolve our AWS ecosystem - multi-region, multi-account, secure by default, resilient, and cost efficient
Lead major infrastructure initiatives from design through production rollout with minimal oversight
Build and mature our delivery ecosystem: CI/CD pipelines, automated validations, and safe rollout mechanisms
Treat infrastructure as a product: develop reusable IaC modules, enforce consistency across environments, and provide self-service tooling to engineering teams
Develop and maintain automation frameworks, IaC libraries, and internal tooling that reduce operational load and improve consistency
Eliminate repetitive work through automation and thoughtful systems design
Champion DevOps and SRE best practices across engineering
Act as Incident Commander for high-severity production incidents
Implement and evolve observability across logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, and alerting systems
Apply SRE principles to drive reliability improvements and prevent recurrence of systemic issues
Introduce and maintain Chaos Engineering practices to validate real-world resilience
Build and maintain a secure-by-default cloud environment: IAM, segmentation, secrets management, encryption, and auditability
Integrate compliance frameworks into deployment pipelines and infrastructure processes
Ensure all infrastructure changes and systems conform to modern cloud security standards
Partner with Engineering, QA, and Security leadership to anticipate operational needs and shape long-term platform strategy
Mentor engineers and promote high standards for system design, reliability, and operational discipline
Proactively propose and drive improvements
