Safety Specialist KCJC
Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc. is seeking a Safety Specialist KCJC to ensure and provide direct security services at the Kenosha County Job Center/Human Services Building. The role involves greeting and screening visitors, responding to safety emergencies, and maintaining a safe environment within the facility.

Responsibilities
Provide building access services including greeting, screening, and directing visitors / participants, while stationed at the entrance of KCJC/HSB
Provide specialized assistance to visitors/participants who are unfamiliar with the service delivery at KCJC/HSB. This includes helping visitors/participants navigate the resources available from the Kenosha County Department of Human Services
Provide temporary / visitor IDs to approved staff and visitors. Identify visitors/vendors who are required to complete the KCDHS Access Log
Provide an effective visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities through patrolling the facility and adjacent grounds, when not stationed at the KCJC/HSB entrance
Conduct initial investigations of discovered and/or reported incidents and prepare detailed, accurate and legible written reports
Respond to, evaluate, and/or treat Medical Emergencies within the facility within the guidelines of the DHS Emergency Procedures
Respond to and actively intervene in situations involving agitated, aggressive or disruptive persons within the facility following the guidelines of the KCDHS Emergency Policies and Procedures
Monitor KCJC/HSB; be alert and watchful for any activities which could result in the injury to a person or the damage or loss of facility property
Communicate in an effective professional manner to visitors, participants, employees and supervisors
Maintain a positive working relationship with all facility personnel
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the facility, the DHS Emergency Policies, Procedures and the service delivery of the divisions/agencies collocated at KCJC/HSB
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the resources available from the Kenosha County Department of Human Services
Attend Safety/Security Advisory Groups as scheduled
Represent the DHS Safety Coordinator at Safety/Security meetings in her absence
Complete any required reports and/or documentation within 24 hours of the incident as per the DHS Emergency Procedures
Provide input in the planning and implementation of the DHS Emergency Policies and Procedures
Responsible for completing all other job duties/responsibilities as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED minimum
A combination of experience with safety/security and customer service, including developed soft skills to work within a public contact environment. Safety / security background preferred
Certification in First Aid, CPR and use of an AED (or willingness to become certified upon employment)
Crisis Intervention Partner Training within 12 months of employment
Training/certification in Bloodborne Pathogens
Excellent public relations and interpersonal communications skills
Knowledge of safety related practices and procedures and effective de-escalation techniques
Ability to work with and retain information confidentially in both written and verbal form
Ability to respond effectively and efficiently to emergency situations
Ability to work independently with little supervision
Basic computer skills using Windows and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Ability to communicate and work in a professional manner in a multi-agency environment with all levels of staff
Ability to prepare reports and document information
Friendly and professional demeanor
Good mental and physical health
Ability to walk, sit or stand for periods of time exceeding 60 minutes
Ability to run, climb and/or carry fire extinguishers weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both verbal and written form with customers, co-workers, supervisors and subordinates
Ability to assist a sick and/or injured person weighing in excess of 75 pounds get into a wheelchair or stationary chair
Ability to perform duties in adverse weather conditions including but not limited to extreme cold, heat, dry or wet conditions
Able to function in an area with possible exposure to blood and other potentially infectious material
