Senior Accountant - Temporary

Arkansas Talent Group is seeking an Interim Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of a Quasi-Government Entity in Fayetteville, AR. This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial data, preparing government grant reports, and supporting audits during a transition period or staff vacancy.

Staffing & Recruiting

Responsibilities

Manage general ledger functions including journal entries, monthly reconciliations, and account analysis
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and internal reports for management and oversight boards
Oversee grant accounting, including compliance tracking, expense allocation, and reporting of local, state, and federal funds
Assist in developing and monitoring departmental and project budgets in coordination with program managers
Ensure compliance with GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board) and other applicable accounting standards
Support annual audit preparation, responding to auditor inquiries and providing necessary documentation
Monitor internal controls and recommend procedural improvements to enhance financial efficiency and transparency
Assist with payroll reconciliations, benefits accounting, and other HR-related financial tasks as needed
Coordinate with external partners, government agencies, and vendors regarding accounting matters
Contribute to process documentation to ensure continuity of operations after assignment completion

Required

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a government or non-profit organization
Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles and grant compliance requirements
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Tyler Munis, QuickBooks Nonprofit, or similar ERP systems)
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with database reporting tools
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to the mission, values, and ethics of public service accountability
