Market Development Manager
Pasona N A, Inc. is a Japanese food company experiencing growth in the U.S. They are seeking a results-driven Market Development Manager to lead market expansion and retail sales growth across key U.S. retail channels, leveraging support from headquarters.
Responsibilities
Identify and pursue new business opportunities with major U.S. retail chains
Present products and negotiate with buyers and key decision-makers
Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitors to shape strategy
Develop and execute market expansion plans (new channels, segments, product launches)
Build and manage relationships with distributors, retailers, and strategic partners
Prepare sales forecasts, manage pipelines, and report progress
Track performance (sales, revenue, market share) and propose improvements
Represent the brand at trade shows and industry events as the U.S. face of the company
Lead cross-functional collaboration to support launches and business growth
Qualification
Required
5+ years of sales / business development experience
Direct sales experience with U.S. retail chains (Ex: Erewhon, Bristol Farms, Kroger, Safeway, Vons, Sprouts, Walmart, Costco, Target, and more)
Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and presentation skills
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
Food & beverage / consumer packaged goods (CPG) experience strongly preferred
Japanese language skills are a plus (not required)
