Renown Health is seeking a Supervisor of Sterile Processing to oversee the day-to-day operations of personnel and processes related to the decontamination, processing, and sterilization of medical devices. This role is responsible for managing staff, coordinating departmental goals, and ensuring efficient healthcare delivery in compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of personnel and processes affecting cost effective decontamination, processing, assembly, sterilization, storage, purchasing and distribution of sterile and non-sterile medical devices utilized in patient care

Accountable for the 24-hour management of human and material resources in the sterilization and delivery of items used in patient care

Coordinates and directs the activities related to departmental goals, budget, and the functioning of the Sterile Processing Unit

Manages the staff by interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, counseling, and guiding their professional growth

Cooperates with all areas in the facility to collaborate in the delivery of safe, efficient, cost-effective health care

Organizing, planning, staffing, directing, coordinating, maintaining, and evaluating the operations of the Sterile Processing unit

Ensures that services provided are efficient, effective and consistent with the vision, mission, goals and policies of the hospital administration and the governing board

Approvals for capital equipment acquisitions, personnel position approvals, deviations from policy, budgeted expenditures in excess of $1000.00, final budgetary approval for Sterile Processing, and final hiring and termination decisions

Required

Specific knowledge of aseptic techniques, microbiology, patient care procedures, medical-surgical devices and equipment, inventory control, sterilization, and sterile storage requirements

Ability to work in a system characterized by stress, intensity and a demand for high levels of performance with varied work hours

Knowledge of corporate, federal, state, OSHA and JCAHO regulations as well as current legal bioethical issues

Knowledge of supply distribution and patient charge systems

Knowledge of departmental budgeting and budget execution

Ability to understand and implement materials management inventory control computer system

Knowledge and management techniques used in developing cost containment measures without jeopardizing customer service

Skilled in computers and common computer software i.e. excel, word for windows

Safety training skills

Knowledge of infection control policies and procedures

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English

CSPDT or CRCST required at hire and maintained throughout employment

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc
