2+ years expThe University of Kentucky is seeking an Oncology Data Specialist to support the department’s mission of providing timely and compiled information to clinicians and other ancillary personnel. This position will complete abstracting and case finding, including abstracting data from medical record charts and adhering to ACOS Standard 5.2 while maintaining assigned productivity standards.
Education
Responsibilities
Support the department’s mission of providing timely and compiled information to clinicians and other ancillary personnel, and the Kentucky Cancer Registry in support of educational and legal requirements
Complete abstracting and case finding, including abstracting data from the medical record charts, and completing abstracting codes using SEER, MPH Rules, FORDS, Collaborative staging & AJCC staging rules
Adhere to ACOS Standard 5.2 and abstract RQRS cases first, while maintaining assigned productivity standards

2 yrs
Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) required within 3 years of hire
Sitting at computer for long periods with constant keyboarding, repetitive motion
Medical Terminology
Human Anatomy & Physiology
ICD-0 & CPDMS
Typing
Computer use
Preferred
Two years related experience in abstracting and case finding cancer cases
Prefer current ODS certification
