The State of Ohio is hiring for the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency's Summer Intern positions within the Division of Environmental Services. The role involves assisting with laboratory tasks, including cleaning equipment, preparing samples for analysis, and supporting professional staff in environmental compliance efforts.

Responsibilities

Responsible for cleaning and sterilization of glassware, laboratory equipment, instruments; prepare various samples for laboratory analyses

Assist in the analysis of stream samples for intensive water quality surveys

Prepare chemical reagents and standard solutions

Aid professional staff in preparation of reagents and other solutions used in the laboratory; dispose of samples after completion of analytical work; handle acids and other caustic agents

Perform other duties as required

Required

Must be currently enrolled in a college degree program directly related to the position or have recently graduated within the quarter/semester immediately preceding the start date

Major area of study: Environmental Science, Water Resources, Chemistry or Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical) or relevant field of study

Knowledge of safety practices, public relations, Agency policies and procedures and permits as applicable

Skills in computers (word processing and database work)
