USAJOBS is seeking a Senior Software Specialist to provide operations support services and business solutions to the House Members, Officers, and staff. This role involves managing, supporting, and troubleshooting the MicroStrategy application and its databases, as well as designing and optimizing ETL processes for data integration.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes for integrating data from multiple enterprise systems into MicroStrategy

Support Microsoft SQL data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) into the enterprise financial data warehouse

Administer and support the MicroStrategy applications and associated databases for the FinMart project

Support implementation, upgrade, and operation of MicroStrategy and SQL Server for FinMart

Provide knowledge transfer, internal training, and mentoring to FinMart team members

Research, evaluate, recommend, and ultimately implement solutions to meet business requirements

Design and develop MicroStrategy reports and dashboards

Ensure projects are properly developed and defined for successful implementation, all stakeholders are engaged, and processes and standards are followed for proper execution and control

Gain and maintain agreement from the stakeholders on project definition, success criteria and approach, manage stakeholder expectations while managing the competing demands of time, cost, scope, and quality

Negotiate, embrace and manage change; focus on the organization’s mission, and lead by example

Continuously work to identify risks and to develop proactive responses and solutions to those risk areas

Learn new technologies, develop new skills and think creatively to deliver cutting-edge technological business solutions

Deliver exceptional customer service

Manage vendor relationship to ensure successful program delivery. May serve as a Contracting Officer Representative

Support migration of on-premise MicroStrategy environment to the Cloud

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or comparable experience)

Minimum five (5) years of experience in ETL design, development, and support, including creating workflows to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources. Must demonstrate ability to optimize ETL processes for performance, maintain data integrity, troubleshoot ETL failures, and resolve integration issues

Minimum five (5) years of experience with ETL tools, including a minimum of two (2) years with SSIS for ETL development and support

Ten (10) years of experience doing development, system integration, and application administration

Five (5) of those years must be supporting MicroStrategy deployment(s)

Demonstrated ability to leverage prior experience to ramp up quickly and add measurable value within 3–6 months, particularly in ETL-driven and data integration initiatives

Advanced proficiency in ETL design and development, including data integration from multiple sources

Ability to perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)

Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases, including administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting

Ability to design logical and physical data models

Ability to learn and apply new technologies

Strong writing skills and comfort working with customers

Ability to work independently with limited guidance and oversight

Experience with Windows Server or similar technologies

Experience with web development or similar technologies

Experience developing for accounting or financial data and processes

Experience developing in the MicroStrategy application from start to finish, including: MicroStrategy software development kit (SDK), including customizing analytical applications and portal integration. Reporting skills, including data and style manipulations in Desktop, OLAP Services, Report Objects, Advanced Filters, Advanced Metrics, Prompts and Searches, Intelligent Cubes, Derived Elements, and Dashboards
