Group Leader
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego (BGCGSD) changes lives through quality programs and guidance in a safe environment. The Group Leader is responsible for leading and directing elementary and middle school-aged members in various recreational and developmental activities.

Responsibilities
Ensures programs and activities adhere to current health and safety protocols
Coordinates assigned program services and cooperative learning activities for youth that are both fun and instructional; displays a high level of enthusiasm and commitment for activities
Effectively plan and lead programs, services, and a variety of activities for members; promote and stimulates program participation. Provides guidance and role modeling to members
Responsible for daily set-up and clean-up of all materials used during the program
Work in the food service area preparing, cooking, and cleaning up according to established guidelines
Supervises members in program area; monitor and supervise the safety and behavior of members; ensures equipment is in good condition and members instructed in proper and safe use of equipment
Assess facility needs and perform janitorial duties or manual labor as needed – mopping, cleaning tables, trash removal, disinfecting, painting, playing games, moving equipment, etc
Recognize and react quickly to problems-arguing, fighting, horseplay, and stop undesirable activity quickly
Maintains accurate program attendance records and submits them in a timely manner
Cultivates positive relationships with members, their parents and/or guardians, and staff
Regular attendance is expected
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be 18 years of age with High School diploma or GED required with some college experience; or a combination of knowledge and experience
A minimum of 48 units of college curriculum or completion of the Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) required; or a combination of knowledge and experience
Minimum of one 1 year experience working directly with school aged youth and knowledge of youth development is preferred
Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth; instruct, coach and direct varied activities
Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office, email, internet research, social media navigation
Possess skills for instruction, direction and guidance, with the ability to lead and control groups of children in various recreational and educational activities and settings
Respond according to procedure for emergency and disciplinary situations
Ability to effectively communicate with youth, parents, staff, volunteers, and community partners displaying tact, maturity and flexibility
CPR and First Aid Certifications within 30 days of hire
Must have the ability to be active and on your feet for a minimum of five hours each day and complete other essential functions of the position and other duties as assigned
Preferred
Minimum of one 1 year experience working directly with school aged youth and knowledge of youth development is preferred
