Technical Associate 1/ Research Assisstant
Massachusetts Institute of Technology is seeking a Technical Associate 1/ Research Assistant for the MIT Sloan Initiative on the Digital Economy. The role involves providing research assistance in areas related to technology adoption and the performance effects of AI/technology on firms, requiring significant data preparation and analysis.

Responsibilities
Provide research assistance in the following areas: Technology Adoption, the identification of adoption bottlenecks, such as, workforce skills, firm size, and other factors and understanding the market forces and technological factors that (dis-)incentivize AI/technology adoption
Study the impact of AI/technology adoption on firm performance/productivity
Understand the effects of AI/technology adoption on reallocation processes/business dynamism
Analyze the impact of AI/technology on performance differences between firms
Examine the relationship between AI/technology adoption and market power in output and input markets
Prepare and analyze firm- and firm-worker-level data to study the above topics
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in economics or related field
a minimum of two years of specialized experience with qualitative data analysis and research methods (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate)
strong data analysis skills and background in statistics / econometrics
experience in working with firm or firm-worker-level datasets
proficiency in statistical software (Stata, R, Python)
solid English communication skills (verbal and written)
desire and skill (e.g. organizational abilities) to work in teams
interest in working in an interdisciplinary lab with computer scientists and engineers
Preferred
3-year US residency due to residential requirements for accessing US census micro data
