Responsibilities
Provide expert legal counsel and advice on tax-related matters, including income tax, estate tax, gift tax, and property tax issues
Develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies for high net worth individuals and families to optimize tax outcomes
Handle complex legal issues related to trust and estates, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Represent clients in tax disputes and litigation, effectively advocating for their interests before federal and state tax authorities
Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to deliver integrated solutions tailored to clients' unique circumstances
Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to stay abreast of evolving tax laws and regulations, and advise clients accordingly
Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, including wills, trusts, estate plans, and tax-related agreements
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing personalized service and fostering long-term partnerships
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance client service and satisfaction
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
CPA required
Admission to the Illinois State Bar and in good standing
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a tax attorney, preferably within a law firm or corporate legal department
Proven expertise in handling tax and trust & estates matters for high net worth clients
Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
