2026 Summer College Intern - Division of Surface Water - 401/Wetlands and Water Quality
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is dedicated to protecting the environment and public health. They are seeking a Summer Intern in the Division of Surface Water to assist with program duties, including data collection and field evaluations related to water quality and wetlands.

Responsibilities
Receive training in aspects of both in-office and in-the-field activities involved in the Stream and Wetland Permitting Program
Assist in collecting and tabulating data required to draft permits and reports
Collect, prepare and process biological, geomorphological, and water quality data
Assist in the operation/maintenance of field sampling equipment and instruments
Assist in mapping, preparing and migrating data into GIS systems and databases
Field-verify sites to determine compliance with 401 water quality certifications
Assist agency staff in performing site evaluations in response to complaints received
Learn and implement stream and wetland assessment methods
Be trained in aspects of both in-office and in-the-field activities involved in the Water Quality Program
Collect water quality data in streams and/or inland lakes
Conduct reconnaissance of survey sites
Assist in the operation, calibration, and performance maintenance of field instruments
Maintain instrument record logs and other quality assurance records
Qualification
Required
Must be currently enrolled in a college degree program directly related to the position or have recently graduated within the quarter/semester immediately preceding the start date
Major area of study: Environmental Science, Water Resources, Chemistry or Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical) or relevant field of study
Knowledge of safety practices, public relations, Agency policies and procedures and permits as applicable
Skills in computers (word processing and database work)
